Hi, my name is Umair Ahmad and I am based in Canberra, Australia. I have more than 15 years of industry experience as a UI/UX designer.
I was born in Attock, a small town in North-West region of Pakistan. Art and aesthetic sense, I seem to have in my genes as my paternal grandfather was an accomplished florist who used to make numerous flowers using paper and other materials and this family legacy continues in different forms and manifestations. The more recent evidence of this legacy is the sketch drawn by my kindergarten son which I am using as my website logo.
I completed my masters in Information Technology in 2005 and since then I have traversed many trajectories; web designing, usability expertise, UI/UX designing etc. During this period, I have been associated with diverse project and product based organizations as a permanent/free-lance/consultant capacity both on and offshore.
In my leisure time, I like to do singing, sketching, painting, calligraphy, photography, reading books/articles and solving brain teasers etc. Covid-19 Lockdown enforced in March 2020, pushed me to discover more of my artistic skills in painting and I started with different genres like landscape, still life and architectural paintings, but since my childhood I had very reasonable Arabic and Urdu handwriting, so I thought to give it a try using acrylics. I successfully held my first ever solo exhibition in March 2021 in Canberra and Sydney. I am also an enthusiastic sportsman and play very good cricket, table tennis, badminton, and tennis.
To make a long story short, I have a combination of analytical and aesthetic skills required to fill in the shoes of an adept and innovative UI/UX designer. I would describe myself as autodidactic, adaptive, detail-oriented professional with advanced level problem solving abilities. Moreover, I have up to the mark interpersonal and communicative skills and I am ever ready to embrace new challenges in a proactive manner.
